Moritaka Hamono was founded in 1293 by master sword smith Kongohyoe Minamoto no Moritaka who was the head swordsmith for the Buddhist priests at Mt. Homan. 26 generations later master swordsmith Chuzaemon Moritaka decided to expand and apply the Moritaka family forging experience to Kitchen knives. Today Moritaka Hamono continues to produce some of the best kitchen cutlery you can buy. Each knife is forged with skills and knowledge that took over 700 years to develop and accumulate, through over 30 generations. We're very proud to have these in our shop.
Gyuto's are a great all purpose knife. Inspired by the traditional western style chef's knife these knives can do it all. Ranging from 180 mm up to 270 mm these knives are great for chopping vegetables and herbs, slicing meat and anything else you can throw at it.
