These leather magnetic strips from Piotr are what we use at the shop! Magnets strong enough to hold your heaviest knives, but not so strong they rip the knife out of your hands when you get too close. The soft leather protects your knives from scratches, but its important to roll the knife away from the spine when mounting and dismounting knives to avoid cutting the leather!
Small (20cm) comfortably fits three knives.
Large (40cm) comfortably fits six knives.

I couldn’t stand the idea of putting my 150 petty and gyuto in a knife block. So I thought I’d get a knife strip with the leather to baby them.
It works really well. Solid hold of all my knives from the 240 gyuto to the 85 petty. No scratches on my blades from the holder at all.
Problem is I see my Japanese knives now…..I bought two more knives. Luckily this will hold four. That said, I’m getting a 300 Sujihiki this weekend……I should’ve bought the larger strip. Oh well, I will now.
