Steel Type :  Ginsan Stainless
Handle Material  Pakka Wood
HRC (Rockwell Rating)  61

*These knives are suitable for both right and left handed users.

This is a great set of knives for any home cook or professional looking to upgrade their kit. For a home cook they would serve well as they only two knives you need provided you eat mostly vegetables; The Nakiri is great for that, using an up and down chopping motion to fly through your vegetable prep. The Petty is great for all the smaller tasks like slicing up fruit for breakfast, cutting a sandwich in half for lunch or any other small jobs that come up throughout the day before grabbing the nakiri for the larger stuff.

For the professional these two knives would be a great place to start your collection or add to the chef's knife you already have in your kit. The petty is great for all the reasons mentioned above and also excels at many butchery tasks and can even be used to break down smaller fish.

The Ginsan steel provides excellent edge retention while being one of the most easily sharpened stainless steels available. For more information and pictures of the knives in this kit follow the links bellow :

Knife Care (Stainless Steel)

  • Although this knife is made from stainless steel we do still encourage our customers to keep their knives as dry and clean as possible.
  • NO DISHWASHER - the high heat will ruin the wooden handle.
  • Wash and dry by hand using regular dish soap and warm water using a none abrasive sponge or cloth.
  • Ensure the knife is dry before being put away for storage and ensure the edge of the knife is protected to avoid any unnecessary dulling.
  • Avoid Bones, Frozen foods, nuts and hard candies or anything other than fruits, vegetables and proteins.
