There is nothing like having an artesian forged knife. They are useful and special in so many ways. However, classic wenge handles can get very dry and brittle. The Tsubaki Oil from Sharp Knife Shop helps keep the handle moist and also can benefit the blades as well. I had been using mineral oil but Tsubaki Oil is lighter and soaks in better. Tsubaki oil is now a standard part of my knife care.

It is amazing how little you need to cover the whole blade with this oil. Half a spray per side or a full spray and cover all sides is all you need. Biggest bang for your buck I can see this oil lasting me awhile before I need another, and it’s not that expensive either.

Tsubaki oil is a necessary part of any regular knife maintenance, particularly for mono carbon steel or sanmai soft iron-clad knives. Applying a drop to your knife in a thin layer after use and thorough drying (but prior to storage) will help ensure that only beautiful patina forms on your blade and not destructive rust. Great price for a large quantity bottle. Gage is a very knowledgeable and exceptionally kind: easy to order from, and a great shop to support.
